Who We Are

The Friends of Barclay Library is organized and dedicated to assisting the library in its mission to provide the best possible programs and services to the community. The Friends group supports the library through the annual Book and Bake Sale, Christmas Cookie Walk and other fundraising activities.   

New members are always welcome!

Membership renewals are encouraged in February of each year.

Meetings

The Friends meet at Barclay Public Library quarterly on the fourth Monday in February, April, August and October at 6:30 pm. Meeting attendance is not a membership requirement, although your support in planning events and activities is appreciated. Please consider joining us in supporting our wonderful library!

2023 Calendar of Events and Activities

February

27th – Meeting 6:30 PM

Library Lover’s Month – dues of $5.00 per person/$10 per family are due at this time.  Business memberships are also available at $25.00.  Your participation and support is greatly appreciated…less than 5% of the Friends income comes from dues.

March

23rd – Meeting 6:30pm at Barclay Public Library.

April

1st – Community Easter Egg Hunt at Illini Park. 1:00pm for 0-3 yr olds; 1:10pm for 4-5 yr olds, 1:20pm for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders, 1:30 for 4th and 5th graders. Volunteers and donations are welcome! We will need about 10 volunteers. Volunteers meet in Illini Park pavilion at 12:30 PM

28th & 29th – Book & Bake Sale. Book donations accepted the week prior to the sale. Need baked goods and volunteers to help set up and on sale day.  A volunteer sheet will be at the library service desk beginning April 1st. 

24th – Meeting 6:30 pm

August

28th – Meeting 6:30 PM. Plan Fall Rummage Sale

September

15th & 16th – Fall Rummage & Bake Sale.  Rummage items accepted the week prior to the sale. Need baked goods and volunteers to help set up and on sale day.  A volunteer sheet will be at the library service desk beginning September 1st.  This weekend is also the Warrensburg Community Rummage Sales, co-sponsored by the Friends and the Library, who collect a $3 fee per sale to cover costs associated with publicity and creating maps.

October

23rd – Meeting 6:30 PM. Plan Cookie Walk

December

2nd Christmas Cookie Walk/Bake Sale, 9:00am-Noon. Cookie bakers and volunteers are needed to set up and work the sale.
